Lukashenko says Russia to help Minsk through Eurasian Devt Bk
MINSK, Feb 16 (PRIME) -- Russia will help Belarus financially through the Eurasian Development Bank, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Tuesday, as cited by newswire BelTA.
“The situation is not easy but not really lethal. They (Russian authorities) say, “Yes, it is not lethal for us or for you but we see some gaps in financing and so on, we will help from the point of view of refinancing and borrowings from the Eurasian Development Bank,” Lukashenko said.
The president said that Russia depends on Belarus very much.
Minsk asked the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development for a U.S. $3 billion loan last March to support a 2015–2017 stabilization program of the government and the central bank. In December, after receiving no definite response from the fund, Minsk cut the loan request to $2 billion.
